Return on Fundraising Investment Masterclass

Learn how to quantify, qualify, benchmark and present a strategic multi-year investment case to your board with confidence.

Every charity invests in fundraising. Almost none can say what it returns. Not because the number is unknowable, but because it sits in a gap between two functions. Fundraising owns the activity, finance owns the accounts, and the return on the investment belongs to neither.

A cost-to-income ratio will not close that gap. It tells you what last year’s income cost to raise. It says nothing about what this year’s investment will produce, when it will land, or whether it compounds.

This is for you if

  • You are a director or head of fundraising at a UK charity of roughly £2m to £30m
  • You are a finance director who can state the cost of fundraising precisely and the return not at all
  • You are being asked to grow against a flat budget
  • You have an investment conversation coming that you do not yet have the numbers for

This is not for you if

  • Your charity is under about £1m, with no fundraising budget to model
  • You are an agency, consultant or supplier (we will decline those bookings)
  • You want channel tactics, a better appeal or a better bid
  • You are a trustee attending without an executive colleague
  • You cannot bring two years of fundraising income and expenditure
